Frequently Asked Questions
Y'all always ask, so I thought I would answer. Enjoy!
How old are you?
I am 36 years young.
Are you going to change the name to Forty+Rollin when you turn 40?
Hopefully I am still at this content creation game when I turn 40. But when I hit 40 it will not be Forty+Rollin. I hope to have a clear path on what really matters within all I have done and pursue that path. I will rebrand at that point to what makes the most sense.
How long have you been inline skating?
~18 years, but don't quote me on that exactly.
How often should I rotate my wheels?
I look for a wedge starting to form after each skate session.
(Also check out my video on how to rotate your wheels in the description below.)
How do I know if my foot is wide or narrow?
Measure the widest part of your forefoot then look up a foot width size chart online and see where your measurement falls based on your shoe size.
(I technically have standard feet but like a tighter fitting skate so I skate narrow boots.)
What camera do you use?
I use the GoPro Hero 7 Black and the Sony a7s.
How tight is too tight when buying new skates?
Getting a tight skate is good! You want to be able to break them in and still feel snug for performance.
This means they may not be comfortable when you first get them but if you are experiencing numbness or extreme pressure points to the point you can not be in them for more than 5-10min they are probably too small.
You can also try heat molding your liners if they are heat moldable as well as heat molding your shells.
How often do you clean your bearings?
I clean my bearings whenever I notice a slowdown or can hear them making noises.
I don’t follow a schedule but I would say it’s about every 2-3 months depending on how much use.
I also only ever clean my bearing 2-3 times before replacing them.
What is your favorite skate/setup?
Freeskate: Rollerblade Twister boot with the NN Skates Dragon frames.
Aggressive: Roces M12 boot with an Intuition liner and the medium Oysi frames.
